Wolverton Gardens, Hammersmith W3
The constrained depth of the site has informed a compact, carefully articulated two-storey form, allowing the new dwelling to sit comfortably within the established residential character of the surrounding streetscape. The proposal adopts a simple contemporary architectural language, with stepped brickwork and a restrained material palette of warm-toned brick forms responding to the materiality and rhythm of the neighbouring properties.
Generously proportioned openings bring natural light deep into the dwelling, while carefully positioned windows maintain privacy and create strong visual connections with the landscaped front and rear gardens. The arrangement of the building, boundary walls and planting seeks to provide a considered transition between the existing residential context and the new dwelling, contributing positively to the character and appearance of the Ealing Common Conservation Area.
