The Mallows, Ealing W5
The proposal is conceived as a cohesive terrace of four family homes, arranged as two pairs. Subtle breaks between the volumes give the terrace a clear rhythm and reduce its perceived mass.
The architectural language draws on the established residential character of the area. Steeply pitched gabled roofs, carefully articulated brick elevations and recessed entrances give each home a domestic scale and its own identity. A warm, textured brick is set against contrasting roof tiles, and generous glazing adds interest to the street elevation.
Each home has well-proportioned internal accommodation and its own private garden, with a clear connection between the house, its garden and the street. The scheme is designed to sit comfortably within its leafy suburban setting, offering a contemporary interpretation of the local vernacular.
